Dentistry

Yes, pets have teeth too! Caring for your pet’s teeth routinely will prolong their life. Without yearly teeth cleaning and daily brushing, tartar builds up on the teeth resulting in painful gums, difficult chewing, millions of harmful bacteria circulating in the blood stream, tooth and bone loss and eventually, kidney and heart disease.

We are equipped to meet all of your pet’s dental needs, from professional cleaning to root canals. Our licensed veterinary technicians will clean your pets teeth like a dental hygienist does ours.

Dr. Ed Taylor, a veterinary dentist, is available to perform more complicated dental procedures like root canals, oral surgery and crowns.

The Monticello Animal Hospital is equipped with state of the art dental equipment, including a dental x-ray machine. Dental x-rays allow our doctors to diagnose hidden and early tooth problems in order to save as many teeth as possible. We recommend a dental exam and cleaning at least once a year to maintain the health of your pet.

Home care is also essential to maintaining healthy teeth and gums. We highly recommend that you brush your pet’s teeth at least once a week. You can also offer your pets a dental diet, chews, and topical gels or sprays to help in keeping their teeth and gums healthy.
